This program is designed to introduce the many sexually transmitted diseases (formerly called venereal diseases) to those with little knowledge of them and to refresh the memory and update the knowledge of those who have worked with this subject.  There are sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) recognized today that were virtually unknown in the past.  Society has become more sexually oriented in the last 50 years and many yound people (and some not so young) are either reluctant or blase about protection during intercourse that they may have become careless about using condoms during sex mistakenly thinking that condoms are only used to prevent pregnancy.
