The following home study discusses the normal anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system.  It discusses the patiophysiology of hypertension as well as its different classifications.  It will discuss the diagnostic criteria for hypertension, and will discuss the correct method for measuring blood pressure.  The reader will learn of the risk factors for hypertension and should be able to list the symptoms of hypertension.  The module will discuss special categories of persons with hypertension and discuss complications of it.  Finally the unit will mention the various categories of drugs used in the treatment of hypertension, method of action of each and side effects of the drugs.  It will list the special precautions used with antihypertensive medications.
