OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of this workshop, participants should be able to:
1. Discuss the basic pathophysiology and clinical problems experienced by the patient with congestive heart failure and treatment regimens.
2. Discuss what should be included in a basic neurological assessment.
3. Identify neurological changes that signify the onset of, or the exacerbation of certain existing problems.
4. Identify the pathophysiology and treatment of end-stage renal failure.
5. Discuss easy steps to the interpretation of arterial blood gases.
6. Identify the normal electrical condition system of the heart and pathophysiology of changes which may be seen on a rhythm strip.
7. Identify recent changes/advances in the treatment of HIV/AIDS.
8. Discuss the different types of hepatitis, pathophysiology of each, and treatment measures.
9. Identify the pathophysiology of Syndrome X.
10. Discuss several orthopedic emergencies and treatment of each.
11. Discuss the pathophysiology of back pain and advances which have been made.
12. Identify eye emergencies requiring immediate treatment.
