COURSE OVERVIEW: Everything is now for seniors. AARP lowered the age for "seniority" from 65 to 55. Did this make us feel better by getting some "perks" sooner, or did it make us feel that we were going "over the hill" sooner? Ideally, as we age, life should have fewer problems. But, is this always so? Health problems, financial prblems, dementia problems, and, for most seniors, children problems. Can we make the most of our days as we age? If so, let's collectively learn how these years can truly be "the golden years". COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to: 1. Define the term "older". 2. Identify personal feelings regarding aging. 3. Discuss when YOU get old. 4. Identify problems unique to the aging process. 5. Discuss the transition from being a workplace producer to being a retired person. 6. Identify benefits that are unique to the aging process. 7. Discuss physical health problems that occur as we age. 8. Identify mental health problems that may occur as we age. 9. Discuss ways each of us can embrace aging as a unique experience.
